SUSD is asking voters to approve a $375 million bond for classroom upgrades, technology, roofs and HVAC, school safety and buses. The district estimates the cost at about $157 a year on a $607,000 home.
The statewide measure on the Nov. 3 ballot would require districts to put at least 60% of operating spending into direct instruction. SUSD is at 54% and says reaching the target would mean moving about $14.9 million from other budget lines, starting with roughly $1.2 million in year one.
